Russia’s foreign minister confirmed Ukraine’s attack on a new phase on Tuesday. Sergei Lavrov stressed that the goal in the east is the liberalization of the Donbass region.
“The goal of the Eastern Ukraine operation, as announced from the beginning, is the complete liberation of the (self-proclaimed) Donetsk and Luhansk republics,” the Russian minister said.
The President of Ukraine also confirmed the start of the second phase of the war and assured that Kiev’s forces would oppose it.
Russia says it hit more than 1,000 Ukrainian targets last night, especially in the eastern part of the country. There are now 76 battalions from Moscow in the Donbass, 11 of which have arrived in recent days following the redeployment of troops.
In the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, authorities are asking people to flee while there is time left.
Complaints about the attacks in several places are beginning to emerge, and civilians died trying to escape the fighting.
