Caxias will be vaccinating children against the flu and measles starting Monday

The Caxias do Sul Municipal Health Agency (SMS) was expecting a vaccination campaign against influenza / flu and measles in children aged six months and under 5 this Monday. The decision follows state guidelines as it is necessary to expand the vaccination coverage of this public. These two pediatric vaccines are available at all municipal primary health care units. The immunizing agent against measles is MMR.

“The main goal of the campaign is to randomly vaccinate children aged six months and under five against measles, in addition to vaccinating the same audience against the flu. Both vaccines can be given on the same day, ”says Juliana Argenta Calloni, director of Health Surveillance.

In addition to the children protected from Monday, the same target audiences that are already involved in the early stages of the campaign will continue: Influenza vaccination should be given to those over the age of 60 and also to healthcare professionals. Healthcare professionals should also update their measles vaccination schedule.

The flu / flu vaccine is available for both on all UBS from Monday to Friday; Health care professionals can be vaccinated against measles at all UBS on Wednesdays and Fridays. The D day for both campaigns is April 30th.
