Mosquitoes with Wolbachia were released in the 33 CBN Campo Grande area of ​​Campo Grande

In the 33 districts of the capital, 32 million Wolbachian dengue mosquitoes were released. The aim is to reduce the incidence of Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya.

According to Health Minister Flávio Britton, once the effectiveness of the project has been proven, the aim is to extend the initiative to other cities in the state that also suffer from these cases, clean water tanks are essential.

Once the distribution of mosquitoes in the suburbs has been completed and the results monitored, a community participation phase involving 21 districts will begin. In the capital, the project is expected to be completed by February 2023, and monitoring and delivery of results will continue until January 2024.
