The campaign includes doses against the flu and covid-19 in addition to the Triple Viral virus for healthcare professionals
The Amazon government, through the Fundação Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade (FUnATI), in collaboration with the Municipality of Manaus, launched several weeks of vaccination to update the vaccination schedule for the elderly. Activities will take place from today (April 25) to Friday (April 29) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the FUNATI Gerontological Outpatient Clinic, located at Avenida Brasil, 11,430, in the Santo Antônio neighborhood.
Doses against the flu (flu) and a third booster dose of Covid-19 are available during the week. In addition to the elderly, triple virus doses (measles, rubella, and mumps) and a third dose of Covid-19 are available to healthcare professionals.
Euler Ribeiro, Rector of FUnATI, took advantage of the campaign to take the flu vaccine and encourage vaccination of the elderly. He stressed the importance of influenza vaccinations during the Amazon rainy season.
“First of all, I would like to thank City Hall for this collaboration with FUNATI so that we can really encourage people over 60 to protect themselves, as the vaccine is a protection against viral, bacterial or fungal infections. We have all the vaccines, but this team is working on the flu because the flu is a risk in the elderly, ”the dean said.
Gilberto Gomes, 68, a student in the FUNATI Coral class, took advantage of the first day of the campaign to secure a dose of the flu vaccine.
“We, the students, are here every day, so I think it’s a very good measure, because that’s where we take all the doses and finish the vaccination cycle. And you have no excuse to say you don’t take it because it’s far away because you don’t know where it is. So he comes here, does everything and still participates in the activities, ”the student said.
Healthcare professionals who can take Triple Viral can also look for FUNaTI to guarantee it. Vanusa Nascimento, coordinator of the Foundation’s Gerontology Outpatient Clinic, received MMR doses and stressed what documentation is needed to take the available vaccines.
“It’s important to bring the official photographic documentary, CPF, the vaccination card for Covid-19 itself, so we can do all this updating. We have campaign staff on site from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, ”the coordinator stressed.
