More than 3,000 suspected cases of dengue fever are reported in less than a month, SES says

More than 3,000 probable cases of dengue fever were reported from the beginning of April to this Monday (25) in Paraíba, according to a bulletin issued by the State Ministry of Health. In addition to cases of dengue fever, more than 2,000 possible cases of Chikungunya and 193 cases of Zika were recorded.

According to SES, there are now 6,773 probable cases of dengue and 4,464 probable cases of zika in the state.

According to Carla Jaciara, a technician in charge of SES arboviruses, this year 45 municipalities are silent and do not report suspected cases of arboviruses, and 60 municipalities have a high incidence of more than 300, which indicates an outbreak.

Six other municipalities have died under investigation: Patos (01), Mulungu (01), Jericó (02), Serra Branca (01), Boa Ventura (01) and Queimadas (01).

“It is important for the municipality to report all suspected cases so that the count can be done safely and efficiently. And it is also imperative that the municipality carry out a study on the rapid Aedes Aegypti Infection Index (LIRA). With this information, we can assess the need to use an UBV in the regions, ”Carla said.

From Monday (25) to Friday (29), a smoke truck running the in-vehicle Ultra Low Volume Operation (UBV) will be present in the municipalities of Soledade, Boa Vista, Nova Palmeira and Seridó, Cuité, Santa Luzia, Juazeirinho, Lucena Serra Branca and São José do Ramos.

SES confirms that, in addition to the use of UBV, it is important that the population is always attentive to their place of residence and takes care of all means of collecting water, such as tires and vases.

The most common symptoms of arboviruses are:

  • Fatigue
  • persistent headache
  • joint pain
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Red spots on the body
  • Fever

If symptoms worsen, seek medical attention.
