Belenenses announced on Wednesday that the Court of Appeal upheld the dismissal of Belenenses SAD, which means that the club playing in the Estádio do Restelo won the appeal after the first decision.
This means that Belenenses has an “open path” to form a new SAD or SQUD and return to professional football, which was prevented by the alleged connection to Belenenses’ SAD.
“The unanimous judgment of the Board of Trustees confirms the real and effective separation of the departments. B-SAD’s appeal was considered completely unfounded and the judgment under appeal was strictly upheld,” Belenenses said in a statement.
The court ruling “recognizes that the club is no longer a shareholder in B-SAD because the sale of its shares was valid”; that “the identity link between B-SAD and the club has already been severed”; and that “B-SAD is no longer the club’s football sports company,” reads the same note.
After disclosing the information, Belenenses’ management emphasizes that “the important victory achieved in court is in line with the interpretation it has always made of the SAD Act, which was the starting point for the path that followed from 2018 by the decision of its partners».
It should be noted that Belenenses, having started a new sports trail at the lowest level of district football in 2018, is now competing in Campeonato de Portugal, the fourth national level.
Five days before the end of the promotion round, Belenenses is second in the southern zone and is thus the site of the Liga3 promotion.
