Piracicaba will be vaccinated on day D.

In line with the São Paulo state agenda, Piracicaba will also promote this day (Saturday) the day children are vaccinated against measles and the flu. The aim of the measure is to vaccinate children aged 6 months and under 5 years.

The campaign will be held at approximately 3,200 health stations across the state, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The vaccine sector at the Municipal Health Control Center (Cevisa) is closing an action plan defining vacancies and working groups that should be vacated tomorrow.

“It is important to raise awareness among parents and carers about the importance of influenza and measles vaccinations for children. Vaccines are safe and protect against serious forms of the disease,” emphasizes Núbia Araújo, São Paulo’s director of immunization.

The goal is to vaccinate 95% of children (target group 12.9 million in the state) against measles. According to Seade, Piracicaba’s target audience consists of about 21,000 children.

Influenza vaccination

This Saturday also marks the start of a new phase in the flu vaccination campaign for the same target group. Measles and influenza vaccines can be given at the same time, except in people who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
