Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has potential visual details that are revealed in MIUI files

More than a year after the release of Mi Mix Fold, Xiaomi may soon introduce an update to the foldable phone. The new images found in the latest MIUI versions show what the new Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which aims to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, should look like.

Although the content does not tell you much about the device, it is possible that the image reveals what the product lines are like. The phone’s external display may have much thinner edges than its predecessor, while the front camera hole would be moved to the center of the panel – in the original Mi Mix Fold it is at right angles.

Since the images do not show the existence of a circle on the flexible screen, it is possible that Xiaomi has decided not to place the camera inside the device, as has already been done with Mi Mix Fold. However, the brand is still able to implement a camera system under the pixel layer of the screen, which is already in use in the Xiaomin Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Mi Mix 4, for example.

On the outside of the mobile phone, the company can opt for a square-shaped camera module instead of the rectangular shape found in several recent Xiaomi models. This feature can mean installing simpler components to keep the device reasonably priced instead of deploying the same cameras as the brand’s flagships.

The trade name of the device has not yet been confirmed, but it has already been found in the internal codes under the code name “zizhan”. It is further noted that this product has the same display panel as the “umi”, i.e. in the Mi 10.

As a result, it is very likely that the external display on the Xiaomi Mix Fold will have the same features as the model already released by the Chinese brand in 2020. The technical details of this component include support for 90 Hz refresh rate, Full HD resolution and possible compatibility with HDR10 + – the Mi 10 has a 6.67-inch screen, but these dimensions are subject to change with the new phone.

In addition, previous rumors have already shown that the design of the Mix Fold 2 may have more compact hinges to help open and close the device. The phone is also expected to have less visible wrinkles compared to the previous generation.

The leaders in the performance series should be Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, a mobile platform that Qualcomm has not yet introduced. Its battery is likely to be just under 5,000 mAh, as is already the case with several collapsible batteries on the market.

The exact release date for Mix Fold 2 has not yet been announced, but it is possible that it will be released around June. Initially, it will be an exclusive device for China – however, the proliferation of folding devices around the planet could force Xiaom to change its strategies and make the model available in other markets.
