S. Bernardo anticipates vaccinating children against the flu and measles

The city of São Bernardo expected to vaccinate children under 6 months and under 5 years of age (4 years, 11 months and 29 days) against influenza and measles this Friday (29th). Doses of both vaccines are given in 33 primary health units (UBS) as needed and can be given on the same day. In addition to children, healthcare professionals are also vaccinated against influenza and measles. Elderly people 60 years of age and older, on the other hand, can take both a flu dose and a fourth dose of Covid-19.

During the campaign, 57,739 children under the age of 6 months, under the age of 5, will be vaccinated with two doses: influenza and measles. In order to achieve the 95% vaccination coverage set by the Ministry of Health, vaccinations for this target audience will also be available in municipal schools starting next Monday (May 2).

According to Mayor Orlando Morando, health teams are vaccinating schools safely and effectively. “We have already adopted this strategy in a recent campaign against Covid-19, and the commitment of parents and guardians was great. It saves a trip to UBS and one student encourages another, it’s a very beautiful moment for them to observe, ”Morando said.

The influenza campaign also focuses on: indigenous peoples, immunocompromised, pregnant and postpartum women, teachers, people with disabilities and co-morbidities, security and rescue forces, the armed forces, prison staff, truck drivers, road and long-distance road workers, road and long-distance road workers transport of young people and young people through socio-educational measures. The campaign aims to vaccinate 90% of the target audience by June 3rd.
