Xiaom has a new folding competitor for Samsung

At this point, Samsung has an absolute dominant position in the world of folding! This is practically indisputable. But… It is impossible to be alone in this world for a long time! After all, Xiaomi has even released her first fold, and it looks ready to invest hard and ugly in this market as early as 2022.

I think it would always be a good idea to bring to market a more wallet-friendly foldable device that can compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which is currently available for less than € 700. But apparently at the moment the focus is on a really high range, i.e. as a competitor to the Z Fold 3 starting at € 1,800.

Xiaom has a new folding competitor for Samsung

Therefore, according to a new “leak” that came to showcase some of the images in Xiaom’s MIUI operating system, the Chinese giant has a device codenamed “Zizhan,” which is apparently a competitor to Z Fold 3, or who knows, for the new Z Fold 4, which should appear within 2-3 months.

That’s why it’s at first glance a different device than the already launched Mi Mix Fold. However, it’s not different enough to rule out the possibility that it would be Mi Mix Fold 2.

However, it seems to appeal hard and ugly to the most advanced technology in the Android world available in the second half of the year, including a processor better than the current Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

new layout

On the technical side, however, everything suggests that we have an 8 ”OLED main display without a hole in the display that can reach 120 Hz. Comes with a second display, secondary, outside, 90 Hz and 6.67 inches.

In terms of performance itself, everything points to the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 + SoC, Qualcomm’s new processor, now produced on TSMC’s 4nm lines instead of Samsung’s less efficient and problematic lines.

In addition, according to information already released, Xiaomi wants this device to be simpler, thinner, lighter, and therefore more attractive to users who still consider the foldable smartphone something exaggerated in everyday life.

In terms of price and launch, all indications are that the device will hit the market in the second half of the year, at least in China… Price? Well… We don’t know yet, but I would never expect something super cheap.

In short, all this raises the question… Is it the first foldable device from outside the second Samsung universe that can make a dent in the Android world? It really depends on the price!
