Google attaches to Apple’s messaging service

During Google I / Owas held today, the company could not help but bend Apple directly. Speaking about the posts, the head of an Android developer highlighted the success of a technology called RCS1which reached 500 million users.

This platform replaces old text messagestwo features similar to apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. End-to-end encryption is in place, which transmits larger media, audio, and other important functions today.

The Google executive urged all other companies to support RCS, which is not a new topic. Given that all Android smartphones already offer the opportunity, it’s clear this is a message to Apple that still doesn’t.

We expect all mobile operating systems to receive the message and update to RCS. So your messages are private no matter what device you use.

The reason this way of exchanging messages has not yet become available on the iPhone is basically keeping iMessage exclusive to brand users. Apple also does not want to encourage competition from it, for example by deploying RCS separately from its own solution.

In countries like the United States, where the addition of iMessage and text messaging is high, the novelty would have a big impact. In Brazil, for example, it is difficult to come up with a new solution that would get people to stop using WhatsApp, which is massively used for communication.

Still, it would be nice if RCS were available on Apple devices. However, it is difficult for a company to reach out and implement a solution at some point. Initiatives such as the European Union’s obligation for all messaging services to follow the same protocol could change this reality.

Maybe it’s better for Apple that everyone only uses iPhones around the world. 😜
