The first phase of this year’s campaign opened on April 4 for people over the age of 60 and healthcare workers. The early stages of children over 6 months of age and under 5 years of age began on April 25th. On May 2, other Priority Groups were released for vaccination, such as pregnant women, women who gave birth, comorbidities, and people with permanent disabilities.

The trivalent influenza vaccine used by the Unified Health System (SUS) has been manufactured by the Butantan Institute. The formulation is constantly updated to provide effective protection against new virus strains. The vaccine is effective against H1N1, H3N2 and type B strains.
