An American man died of a heart attack while burying a strangled woman in the backyard of his home in South Carolina, local officials said Wednesday.
Authorities were alerted to an unconscious man in the city of Trenton (southeastern United States), and when they arrived at the house, they found Joseph McKinnon, 60, already dead, confirmed by Edgefield County Sheriff Jody Rowland and medical researcher David Burnett.
“McKinnon had no signs of trauma and is suspected of having died of natural causes,” the statement said.
While investigating the death and notifying family members, police found another body in a ditch just dug in the backyard.
Authorities say the body belonged to 65-year-old Patricia Ruth Dent, who appears to have died as a result of the crime.
The dent was found injured and was wrapped in garbage bags from a ditch. Evidence and testimony from witnesses show McKinnon attacked Dent at his home.
